THE ENVIRONMENT AT SAMANAH

Samanah Environment

The beauty of the landscape and striking contrast of the colours were closely studied by Nicktaus Design® and Atelier Vert, the landscape company in charge of planting in the community. The bright green of the golf course is accentuated by the red earth used in the landscaping and the snowy peaks of the Atlas range provide a spectacular backdrop for the cacti, palm trees and other Mediterranean plants.

When the project was started, several hectares were used for a plant and tree nursery to include all existing fauna on the site and the many types of imported species. Here the vegetation is acclimatised and made ready for use in the comprehensive landscaping plan - one of the many reasons why Samanah is now an oasis of beauty and privacy.

Landscaping The Gardens:

The villa gardens are welcoming yet private. They were designed by Pascal Lopez, the Samanah landscape architect, to fit into the villa's natural environment and harmonise with the golf course.

The gardens range from 1,000 to 6,000 m2 (500 - 700 m2 for Carissa villas) and are delivered with a variety of plants according to the master plan to ensure that every garden is unique.

From the street, luxurious vegetation welcomes you and the separation between gardens is soft and green to avoid the need for fences. Hedges are planted with species that can reach 1.5 metres and are heightened by the relief of the terrain.

Each plot is planted with several species from the following range: white, orange and pink daturas, strelitzias, olive, banana, pomegranate, lemon, orange, fig, pear and almond trees, date palms and grape vines. In the well-exposed zones and near the terraces white jasmines, "galants de nuit" and a variety of rosebushes will make for delicious oriental aromas

Each garden is planted with roughly 4 varieties of palm tree, 15 species of tree and 100 varieties of shrub and flower to guarantee a special atmosphere.

Creating a Symphony of Gardens:

Green, the dominant colour of the garden and the golf creates the backdrop for Samanah Country Club along with the stunning Atlas Mountains. It comes in an infinite number of variations: acid green, blue-green, green with purple hints, bronze and even brown. The choice of greens constitutes a basis for the planting scheme in the villa gardens and links in with the colours of the flowering species chosen.

You access the villas through wide residential streets planted with ornamental trees creating flowery promenades. The vegetation planted along each street matches a specific colour chart bringing variety and originality to the community.

The boundaries between the gardens and the golf course are lined with splendid plants symbolising water conservation. Viewed from the golf course, the gardens appear highly diversified, changing according to the different golfing areas to satisfy the requirements of the golf course designer.

By combining the colours of the different plants, yellow, orange, red, purple, blue and white, Pascal LOPEZ has created a symphony of colour giving warmth, energy, light, purity and serenity to the gardens.

In today's busy, stressful world, gardens have even greater importance. A garden enriches our life, creating a special atmosphere for peace and reflection. Vibrant colours evolve according to the seasons and Samanah have spared no expense making the perfect gardens for every one of it villa owners.
